"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both

life and body

Facing One’s Mortality

It’s hard to grasp mortality until you come close to death, whether  by accident or illness. It is either then or when you get older that it becomes much more clear that we are not going to live forever.

Some people think they’ll go to heaven when they die and their spirit will live on in heavenly bliss. Scripture, however, says there will be a resurrection of the dead. So man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer, He will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep. Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me! If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes, Job 14:12-14 NASB. Some will be resurrected to life and some to condemnation (Dan 12:2; Rev 20:6, 13); all judgment will be based upon what they did

with what they knew. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation, John 5:28-29.

The words “immortal soul” cannot be found together in Scripture. Rather, the Bible says, “the soul that sins will die,” Ezek 18:4. Yahweh has immortality (1 Tim 6:16), but we do not. It’s something we seek after through Yahshua the Messiah, Rom 2:7; 1Cor 15:53-54. Eternal life is promised to those who overcome to the end in the Messiah. In a sense, He is our goal; to walk like Him; to act like Him; to worship the heavenly Father, like Him. In everything we should emulate our lives after Him. He was the perfect example, not breaking even one of Yahweh’s laws. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin, Heb 4:15.

Adam and Eve were refused the tree of life after they sinned. They died a first death, but they will be resurrected to face judgment. Whatever is decided at the judgment throne will have everlasting consequences for them, and for all who are

brought up before it. Scripture says all will be judged both great and small, Rev 20:12. The second death is the lake of fire, something that none of us want, because it destroys us completely and forever after.

The Hebrew word nephesh is often translated soul, but it only means, “a living being.” It does not mean “spirit,” which is derived from the Hebrew word, ruach. Animals are living beings, but they do not live forever. Their “soul,” so to speak, only lasts as long as they are alive and then it is no more.

Scripture is very clear that even when our spirit departs from us, we have absolutely no clue as to anything going on, Eccl 9:5, 10. Our thoughts, goals, and thinking, in any sense of the word, comes to nothingness. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day

for sin is

the transgression

of the law."

his thoughts perish, Ps 146:4.  A person that dies has not one iota of comprehension whatsoever, until, that is, when they are resurrected from death. This, by the way, is described many times as simply “sleep” in the New Testament, 1 Thes 4:13.

For those resurrected, it will be as if no time had passed. The first recollection they have when they are first resurrected will be the last thought or memory they had before they died. As we can see, this scriptural concept, though true, is quite foreign to most people’s thinking today.

The Resurrection Chapter (1 Corinthians 15) is rarely used in memorial services today, because it teaches a different concept than that of the “going to heaven when you die” teaching we normally hear.

The Bible clearly teaches that no one has gone to heaven, except the one who came from heaven, Acts 2:29, 34. Yahshua, is the only One spoken of in Scripture as having ascended up to heaven, John 3:13. He is a type of First-Fruit or Wave-Sheaf of the first harvest (Lev 23:10-11), those in the first resurrection will be first-fruits in Messiah.  Those who have died in Messiah will be resurrected at His return, and not before. According to Yahweh’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Master, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Master himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of Elohim, and the dead in Messiah will rise first, 1 Thes 4:15-16 NIV. They will be oblivious of anything, until He returns. They will sleep soundly, not having any knowledge until they are awakened out of their sleep.

Those in Messiah, living at His return, will not have to die a 1st death nor a 2nd death, since they have overcome to the end. They will then be changed, and for the first time will be given immortality. What a blessing that day will be!

Sister Ana Ybanez-Harrom

Our Philippine sister will be missed tremendously. In August of 2008, Ana fell asleep after having suffered with cancer.  Sister Ana has been a faithful, dedicated believer for many years.

She has helped us tremendously by distributing literature in many areas of the Philippines.  She always did so with a positive and cheerful attitude.

In addition, Ana was a talented singer and sent recordings of her Sacred Name songs to many in the U.S.  We look forward to being reunited with her when Yahshua returns.

The latest Big Apple trophy being coveted by oil-rich sovereign wealth funds is the landmark Chrysler Building.

Sources say the super-rich Abu Dhabi Investment Council is negotiating an $800 million deal for a 75 percent stake in the Art Deco treasure that has defined the Midtown skyline since 1930.

The Chrysler assets would be purchased from TMW - the German arm of an Atlanta-based investment fund that's been eager to cash out of its Chrysler stake.

The deal follows last month's sale of the GM Building and three other Macklowe/Equity Portfolio properties for $3.95 billion to a group of investors including the wealth funds of Kuwait and Qatar and Boston Properties.

As part of the Chrysler deal, sources said the Abu Dhabi Investment Council would also get part of the skyscraper's signature Trylons retail prize next door.

Tishman Speyer Properties owns the remaining 25 percent stake in the Chrysler Building and operates the landmark at 405 Lexington Ave., along with the Trylons and the newer next door neighbor at 666 Third Ave.

The Trylons space also involves retail portion, which includes the Capital Grille steakhouse and a Citibank branch.

The buildings sit on land owned by Cooper Union, which leased it in a long-term arrangement to others and uses the payments to support tuition for its students.

Recently Tishman Speyer obtained a 150-year extension of the ground lease.

Sources say the deal would leave Tishman Speyer in charge of the building, with the Abu Dhabi fund essentially acting as a silent partner.

Abu Dhabi has also partnered with Tishman Speyer in other deals around the world, sources said. Since TMW and Tishman Speyer sold 666 Fifth Ave. to Kushner Companies for $1.8 billion last year, the Atlanta group began informing the real estate community that it was ready to cash out in the landmark Chrysler Center, as well.

None of the principals involved in the deal had any comment.

Boston Properties closed on its purchase of the GM Building on Monday with investment partners Kuwait and Qatar, and will complete the purchase of three other former Macklowe properties over the next few months.

Developer Harry Macklowe was forced to sell the assets after taking a personal loan on the GM Building and other family assets to raise nearly $7 billion to buy a city package of former Equity Office buildings.

The credit markets tanked right after completing that deal in July and Macklowe was unable to refinance the short-term debt causing him to sell the four buildings to Boston Properties and return the Equity portfolio to lender Deutsche Bank.

The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of Yahweh thy Elohim, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee, Deuteronomy 28:43-45.

VATICAN BARS USE OF ‘YAHWEH’ IN CATHOLIC CHURCHES

By Francis X. Rocca 08-14-08

VATICAN CITY (RNS) Catholics at worship should neither sing nor pronounce the name of God as "Yahweh," the Vatican has said, citing the authority of both Jewish and Christian practice.

The instruction came in a June 29 letter to Catholic bishops conferences around the world from the Vatican's top liturgical body, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, by an explicit "directive" of Pope Benedict XVI.

"In recent years the practice has crept in of pronouncing the God of Israel's proper name," the letter noted, referring to the four-consonant Hebrew "Tetragrammaton," YHWH.

That name is commonly pronounced as "Yahweh," though other versions include "Jaweh" and "Yehovah." But such pronunciation violates long-standing Jewish tradition, the Vatican reminded bishops.

"As an expression of the infinite greatness and majesty of God, (the name) was held to be unpronounceable and hence was replaced during the reading of sacred Scripture by means of the use of an alternate name: `Adonai,' which means `Lord,"' the Congregation said.

That practice continued with Christianity, the letter explained, recalling the "church's tradition, from the beginning, that the sacred Tetragrammaton was never pronounced in the Christian context nor translated into any of the languages into which the Bible was translated."

Invoking a Vatican document from 2001, the Congregation reminded bishops that the name "Yahweh" in Catholic worship should be replaced by the Latin "Dominus" (Lord) or a word "equivalent in meaning" in the local language.

The Vatican's move will require changes in a number of hymns and prayers currently used in American churches, but not to the Mass itself, said the U.S. bishops' top liturgical official.

Catholic News Service quoted an Aug. 8 letter from Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli of Paterson, N.J., chairman of the U.S. bishops' Committee on Divine Worship, informing American prelates of the policy.

The Vatican's instruction, Serratelli wrote, would serve as "an encouragement to show reverence for the name of God in daily life, emphasizing the power of language as an act of devotion and worship."

And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Yahweh of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart, Malachi 2:1-2.
