Divorce and remarriage principles from the beginning:
Gen 2:24; Mark 10:2-9; Matt 19:3-6 Original intent.
1 Cor 7:39; Rom 7:1-3 Marriage is for life, until death.
Mal 2:16 Yahweh hates wrongful or inappropriate divorce.
Adultery brings death:
Lev 20:10; Heb 13:4 Adultery brings on judgment and the death penalty.
Correcting wrong marital situations:
Ezra 10:3 Ezra instructed the people to divorce their foreign wives, but did not forbid them to remarry.
Deut 24:3-4 No getting back together (remarriage) allowed for divorced couples who go elsewhere. Can’t break a second marriage to restore the first, but if no remarriage or unfaithfulness, then restoration is possible, 1 Cor 7:11.
Divorce and remarriage under the New Covenant:
Jer 3:8; Matt 1:18-19 Unfaithfulness is a scriptural reason for divorce (the Shammai school of thought, which Yahshua confirms as biblical, Matt 19:7-9.) Hillel school said “any reason” was proper, Matt 19:3.
Rom 7:3 Allows remarriage because of death (or under new covenant in which one symbolically dies at baptism and becomes a new creature).
Jer 3:8 Yahweh divorced Ephraim due to adultery, but also will reconcile, verses 12-14, 22. Allowed due to the death (Heb 9:16-17) of Yahshua, in which a new covenant was implemented.
1 Cor 7:11, 27 Does not allow remarriage to another, unless verse 15 is considered.
Mark 10:11-12; Luke 16:18; Matt 5:32 Wrongful “divorce and remarriage” now causes adultery, but it wasn’t necessarily that way in the OT, Deut 24:14; Ezra 10:3; Acts 17:30.

In part 2, to be presented in the March YAIY NEWS, we’ll take a look at biblical reasons allowed for divorce and remarriage. A list of questions, for those who believe baptism does not correct the sin of adultery that previous divorces and remarriages may have caused, will also be presented.

Throughout the year we are to save a 2nd tithe or our increase, which is used for the purpose of being able to afford and travel to and enjoy the sojourning Feasts Yahweh has designated and placed His Sacred Name. They are Days of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks, and Feast of Tabernacles, Ex 23:14-17. In Yahweh’s true calendar, Passover is on the 14th, the 15th evening starts the first High Day of Unleavened Bread (see the YAIY calendar for more info). This year’s Passover date is tentatively set for April 10th, the evening before at sunset, while April 11th through the 17th are the Days of Unleavened Bread.
Why is all this important? Because we do not want to miss the opportunities afforded us to meet with Yahweh and other brethren on His Holy Days. We all experience life’s difficulties with loss of jobs, sickness, unreasonable employers,
unruly neighbors, etc. The world in many ways is a very dark place, all the more reason to come out of it, Rev 18:4. The highlights are when we come before Yahweh’s throne, through His Son, Yahshua, and when we are rubbing elbows, so to speak, with living heirs of those who will inherit all things with the Messiah.
It’s not too early to start planning for Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread. Many hotels/motels fill up in the spring due to traveling sport teams, etc. It is important to make reservations now. Because of the YAIY volunteers and free access to all the Cable Access Stations, we’ve not spent a dime, except in production costs. The current funding, in tithes and offerings which come into YAIY, is not at a current high enough level available for the Short Wave stations, which is a paid service. The funds are just enough for operational costs, which we are very grateful for.
If you have an interest in sponsoring something specific, like Short Wave, we already have a company lined-up that will take our programming specifically to Africa, Europe, Philippines, etc. We have the option of sharing Yahweh’s Word with one or all of the countries mentioned. Currently this is done for free via the Internet, but Short Wave is also able to reach millions of Short Wave radio listeners, especially, in poorer countries.
Paid Satellite Video Station costs can be $60,000 a year
half hour weekly program, while Short Wave would run something like $4800, per year, per country. While this is a substantially lower cost, it would still be a cost that YAIY cannot pursue without financial help. The minimum contract for coverage of one country would be $1200; for a three month run with 16 half hour episodes.
