Q.  Why would Lot offer his daughters to the Sodomites? It appears to me that Lot acted as he did due to his lack of comprehension of Yahweh’s power as exhibited through an angel.

A.  Lot’s attempt to give his daughters in place of the angels was only an instance of man, in his weakness, attempting to protect the angels who were greater in power than any man can be. We certainly must not conclude that Yahweh would permit compromise with sinners, allowing these evil men to defile Lot’s innocent daughters. The action was entirely Lot’s.
But perhaps Lot was being tested, just as Abraham was. Abraham was willing to slay his only legitimate son and heir at Yahweh’s command, proving that he loved Yahweh and was willing to obey Yahweh at any price.
Yahshua Himself said, “If any man come to me, and hate not [love less by comparison] his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple,” Luke 14:26.
Righteous Lot no doubt was exhibiting this love for Yahweh—which was shown to have been greater than for his own daughters—even as Abraham’s love for Yahweh was greater than his love for his own son.
This is no justification for defiling the flesh, but to show a willingness to forsake all for Yahshua’s sake.
